Ultrafiltration is a screening process that is related to the size of membrane pore. A pressure difference across the membrane as the driving force and ultrafiltration membrane as the filter media, then liquid flows through the membrane surface under a certain pressure. Many of the small pores in the ultrafiltration membrane surface allow only water and small molecules to get through, while other material that is bigger than the pore size will be entrapped in the other side of the membrane. Thus, we can get purified water.
