MW-BAF(Biological aeration filter) is mainly used for tertiary treatment, also called advanced waste treatment(AWT). Biological aeration filter is different from traditional aeration tank. The biological bateria in the biological aeration filter attaches on the surface of light filter material. Compared with normal treatment method, flora's density and treatment capacity are much higher. By using BAF's character of denitrification reaction on the bottom and nitrification reaction on the top of the biological aeration filtration tank beginning at the same time, the removal rate of ammonia, nitrogen and phosphorus can be guaranteed, and the aim of lowering down the COD and BOD can be reached, too.
Biological aeration filtration tank is composed of the following parts: sludge disposal area, water distribution area, anaerobic area, aerobic area and clean water area. Based on influent water's COD, BOD and their removal rate, according to different water quality, we can design BAF's dimensions, aeration intensity, filter material's height and particle size, as well as the carbon source, domestication agent and nutrient substances chosen when cultivating bateria.
